Have you reached your buffering breaking point? Sonic Fiber might be just what you’re looking for.

“Every part of my experience has been great so far. The installation was great. All of my devices now perform much faster and more seamlessly than they did with Comcast. The price is way cheaper.”

“When I heard my neighbor had sonic internet, I immediately called to switch. Saving $70 on my internet bill with faster and more reliable speeds? HECK YES!”
★★★★★
Whitney S.
“Recently installed sonic fiber optic Internet in our home. We couldn’t be happier. From the sales department to service and follow up after service were outstanding.”

Srinivasa A.
“Big fan since we switched from Comcast about 5+ years ago (whom I swore I would never give another penny too). Been very happy all along, notably the thoughtful, friendly and well-trained Santa Rosa-based customer support folks, though I’ve not had to use them very much.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Fiber-optic internet is a broadband connection that can reach speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second (Gbps), with low lag time. Commonly called fiber internet or simply “fiber,” this technology uses fiber-optic cabling and light pulses to form an electromagnetic carrier capable of sending data at faster speeds through a glass tube. We build our own networks to ensure reliability and data privacy.

Yes. Simply measure your speeds with the Sonic Speed Test and gauge the performance of your internet service. A wired connection will result in the most accurate speed test. Other devices utilizing your network can also affect the speed to the device being tested.

In communities where we’re still building the fiber optic network, we offer a chance to pre-order. A pre-order secures access to future service while we finish building, and locks in the best deal, plus you get first dibs when we start scheduling installation appointments.

Since every build is different, once you pre-order, you’ll gain access to construction progress in your area, so you can get a sense of what stage of the process you are in.

The bandwidth of 10 Gigabits relieves any pressure on your computer or other devices and ensures that everyone in your home can access the services they need in real-time. Once you’ve installed fiber, you can shorten the data transmission of a 20 GB file by up to 90%. Speed up your computer network and trust that your connection will be consistent when you need it most.

Fiber-optic technology is currently the fastest, most reliable internet service available. Fiber internet increases download and upload speeds and the technology uses glass cabling to send data as fast as about 70% of the speed of light.

When running a direct connection to your home, we install a device on your home’s exterior wall that allows the signals to be interpreted by your fiber-optic Optical Network Terminal (ONT) which acts as a modem. This is called Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Sonic will bring it right to your door. Check your address to see what services are available to you.

Getting the maximum speed of 10 Gigabits requires 10 Gigabit-capable equipment. 10-Gigabit ports are required on your personal devices to achieve maximum speed. These fast speeds are achieved using ethernet cables irrespective of device location. Ethernet outperforms WiFi and achieves around 9400 Mbps with 10-Gigabit Ethernet.

Our free installation includes bringing the fiber into your home and setting up your optical network terminal (ONT). You can connect 10 Gigabit-capable equipment to the ONT directly via Ethernet cables for maximum speeds including 10G capable routers with WiFi 7 to connect multiple devices in your home wirelessly to your fast, fiber internet. You can use your own WiFi routers or rent our affordable Sonic WiFi routers by eero. We offer different solutions to find the best fit for your home. See our WiFi options here.

Sonic Fusion is our residential or small business internet plus phone service package. We offer various Sonic Fusion products depending on your location. Check your address to see what services are available to you.

Sonic Fiber-optic Internet offers symmetric speeds up to 10 Gigabits. Whether you are downloading or uploading data, Sonic Fiber gets it done as fast as possible. To see how much faster that looks like against the U.S. broadband average, put us to the test.

Sonic doesn’t believe in tiered internet services; we are dedicated to giving you the fastest service available, so we do not impose any data caps on our plans.

All Sonic internet plans include free installation.

No, Sonic’s connectivity services are built on an extensive and trusted 100% wholly owned fiber network.
