Shell Access

Sonic is one of the few ISPs to still offer free shell accounts with our Internet services. A shell account is space set aside on our Linux shell server that will allow you to log in, store files, use common Unix tools, and run programs. This can be very useful for live editing of your Sonic hosted web pages, having an offsite Linux server available for testing purposes, and basically having direct control of your connection.

Common shell access features:

  • Email access with mutt and pine
  • Usenet access
  • Web Access with Lynx
  • FTP, telnet, and ssh

If you would like to add shell access to your existing Sonic account, please give tech support a call at 1-888-766-4233 today!
