real-time encoding performance from a Digital VTR via HD-SDI interface. The encoder features support for bit rates up to 40 Mbps as well as a variety of resolutions up to
1080p including creation of Picture-In-Picture (PIP) secondary video streams. In addition, support for seamless multiangle, closed-captioning and still image encoding for
slideshows, mean that all aspects of Blu-ray Disc encoding are covered. The Sony MPEG-2 encoder also features a wealth of professional image optimization tools including

bit rate reallocation. The first pass is then followed by the final encoding pass giving ultimate results in just two passes.
- Inverse 2:3 Pull-down Processing - The Sony MPEG-2 Encoder handles 29.97fps telecine source material by efficiently recognizing the 2:3 pattern and
generating BD-ROM compliant streams. In two-pass encoding the 2:3 pattern is detected during the first pass and can be manually edited during customization.
- Automatic Scene Change Detection - Scene change points are detected and assigned to the I-frames of the GOP structure for effective optimization of
the video quality.
- Simultaneous Audio Capture/Encode - The Sony MPEG-2 Encoder offers further workflow acceleration via its support for capturing Linear PCM or
encoding Dolby® Digital (AC-3) audio from the embedded audio channels of the incoming HD-SDI signal.
