A: If you receive your source video on Digibeta or other tape formats you will need a third-party capture solution to capture your video to an AVI or QuickTime® file. There are a variety of options available from companies like AJA and BlackMagic. For more details download the CineVision Configuration Guide.
A: Yes. One of the great things about CineVision SD is that you can export a QuickTime or AVI reference file from any editing system and use it as your source file. This capability can save you a massive amount of time and valuable storage space.
A: CineVision supports a wide range of input formats including QuickTime and AVI all of which will produce excellent results. However, in order to capture to these formats from external tape devices you will need a third-party capture solution. Please download the CineVision Configuration Guide for further information on recommended peripherals.
A: CineVision has been optimized to take full advantage of the multiple processor cores within our recommended system configurations. Highest quality encoding can run at well in excess of 100 frames/sec per pass meaning a stunning 2-pass encode will typically take less than half the duration of the content itself. Please note that it is important to have sufficiently fast local storage for uncompressed source media to ensure that data can be fed to the encoder quickly.
A: CineVision’s ground-breaking video analysis system means that the quality of your encoded video is completely optimized with just two passes saving you valuable production time.
A: Sonic CineVision automatically analyzes the PSNR (Peak Signal-to-noise Ratio) during encoding by comparing each encoded frame with the original source frame to give a value which represents how similar they are. ExpressQC rapidly searches the entire encoded stream for segments that fall below a specified threshold, or simply for the specified number of segments with the worst PSNR rating. This accelerates the QC process by instantly highlighting segments which may benefit from being re-encoded at a higher bit rate
A: No. However, Sonic can provide the DTS Master Audio Suite as a standalone audio encoding solution for DTS audio. The DTS Master Audio Suite also supports the next generation codecs from DTS for use on Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD (DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio). Please note that CineVision can playback audio files for QC purposes.
