AuthorScript® Video BD
AuthorScript Video BD, a component of the AuthorScript Video SDK,
is a comprehensive authoring and burning solution that
transforms high definition video content into advanced interactive Blu-ray Discs
in the BDMV format, including both HDMV movies and BD-J applications. The SDK is
also available with integrated support for output to the AVCHD format.
Key Capabilities
AuthorScript Video BD is built around a set of C++ libraries that enable
all functionality needed at each stage of the production process:
- Authoring:
- build a project structure (i.e. Streams, Clips, PlayLists, Movie Objects, etc.), including movies and both timed and browsable slideshows;
- populate the structure with references to media (video, audio, and stills);
- add Presentation Graphics (PG), Interactive Graphics (IG), and Subtitle (TextST) streams;
- define Button and Movie Object navigation;
- define BD-J objects and integrate JAR applications.
- Multiplexing:
- combine referenced source asset streams into the HDMV MPEG-2 transport stream format required for BDMV playback.
- Formatting:
- arrange presentation content and navigation information into a file and directory structure (disc image) readable by hardware and software BDMV or AVCHD players.
- Writing:
- record a BDMV or AVCHD disc image to BD-R or BD-RE media, to a folder, or to and ISO file;
- BDMV may also be output to a BDCMF file set;
- AVCHD may also be recorded to DVD media (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW).
Input Format Support
AuthorScript Video BD supports a broad range of formats for asset source files:
- Video:
- motion video and still frames from BDMV-legal elementary, program, or transport stream files in MPEG-2, AVC, or VC-1;
- still pictures from JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, or TIF.
- Audio:
- soundtracks for video and slideshows: LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, and DTS-HD;
- sounds for menu buttons: 16-bit, 48 kHz, mono or stereo WAV.
- Graphics (IG and PG streams):
- 8-bit indexed PNG, TIFF, GIF, and BMP.
Output Options
AuthorScript Video BD provides several different options for outputting a BDMV or AVCHD project:
- Recordable/rewritable media build directly to media in a device:
- BDMV project to BD-R or BD-RE disc;
- AVCHD project to BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW disc.
- Folder build project to hard drive as a BDMV-compliant or AVCHD-compliant directory structure.
- ISO image file build a BDMV-compliant or AVCHD-compliant disc image encapsulated in a single ISO file, which may subsequently be written to disc.
- BDCMF files for BDMV projects only, build to a folder containing a set of files compliant with the Blu-ray Disc ROM Cutting Master Format, including support for AACS.
