- Sonic acquires InterActual, the leading provider of software and services that enable cutting-edge DVD interactivity in computers and next-generation home entertainment platforms.
- MyDVD 6 wins PC Magazine Editors' Choice and Product of the Year Awards.
- Sonic AuthorScript selected by Scientific-Atlanta to power DVD burning on next-generation set-top boxes.
- Sonic acquires the consumer software business of Roxio, inc., including all products, technologies and brands.
2003
- Sonic Solutions introduces Sonic PrimeTime, the world's first DVD recording application designed exclusively for Windows XP Media Center Edition, making it easy to archive recorded TV shows onto DVD discs that can be played on any of the hundreds of millions of DVD players worldwide.
- Sonic Expands Global Presence with New Development Facility in Shanghai, China.
- Sonic MyDVD 5 wins PC Magazine Editors' Choice award with highest five-star rating. Also wins Product of the Year Awards from Videomaker and Presentations magazines, and Editors' Choice Awards from eMedia, PC Upgrade, TECH edge, Laptop Magazine and others.
- Sonic begins licensing the AuthorScript engine for set-top DVD recorders.

- Sonic acquires the Desktop and Mobile Division ("DMD") of VERITAS Software Corporation, including RecordNow for CD and DVD-ROM burning, Drive Letter Access (DLA), Simple Backup and Backup MyPC.
- Sonic Enhances Desktop and Set-top DVD Creation Applications with Support for DVD+RW Video Recording Format.

- Sonic MyDVD bundled with leading PC manufacturers including DELL, NEC, HP and Pioneer.
- Sonic AuthorScript (Sonic's burning and formatting engine) licensed to Microsoft and Adobe.
