Sonic Solutions Announces Rescheduled First Quarter 2006 Earnings Release

Novato, California (August 8, 2005) — Sonic Solutions® (NASDAQ: SNIC), the world leader in digital media software, announced today that it will release its fiscal first quarter results for the period ended June 30, 2005 on Monday, August 15, 2005.

The first quarter financial results will be released after the close of market on Monday, August 15, 2005, via press release and a conference call to discuss the results will begin at 1:30 p.m. PST (4:30 p.m. EST) the same day. Both the live webcast and the replay may be accessed on the investor section of the Sonic website at www.sonic.com.

Sonic also announced that it intended to file a Form 12b-25 with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an automatic extension to the time for filing its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q. As a result of the extension, the Company’s Quarterly Report will be due on Monday, August 15, 2005.

“Because we changed auditors and engaged BDO Seidman, LLP less than three weeks ago, we decided to file for the automatic extension to give BDO a bit of additional time to complete their review,” said Clay Leighton, Sonic’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “We look forward to discussing our June results with our shareholders and investors on Monday, August 15.”

As announced on July 26, 2005, Sonic engaged BDO Seidman, LLP as its registered independent accountants to perform Sonic’s annual financial and controls audit for fiscal year 2006 (ending March 31, 2006) including customary review of quarterly financial statements that will be filed during the fiscal year. Sonic had previously engaged KPMG LLP and its predecessor firms to perform such services.
