Sonic Solutions Named as One of the Top Fastest Growing Companies by FORTUNE Small Business

Sonic Ranking Leads at #6 with FORTUNE; Company also Chosen One of Fastest Growing Tech Companies by Business 2.0

Marin County, California (July 6, 2005) –
Sonic Solutions® (NASDAQ: SNIC), the world leader in digital media software, announced today that FORTUNE Small Business has selected it as one of the 100 fastest growing small companies in America in 2005. The company ranked 6th on the list for the FSB 100 award, underscoring the tremendous success Sonic has experienced in building out its digital media software offerings. The list, which is comprised of public companies, appears in the July/August issue of FORTUNE Small Business, available on newsstands July 4 and at www.fsb.com. Additionally, Sonic Solutions was recently ranked 34th in the Business 2.0 100 Fastest Growing Technology Companies June 2005 issue.

“We are honored and extremely delighted to have been selected as one of America’s leading companies with the FSB 100 award. It is quite a distinction to rank in FSB’s top ten along with so many other outstanding companies,” said Robert Doris, Chairman and CEO of Sonic Solutions. “The 59% growth rate the company experienced in fiscal year 2005 is a direct reflection of the rapid adoption of DVD technology and Sonic’s leadership position in providing digital media creation solutions that reach from consumers’ homes to Hollywood.”

Doris continued, “The tremendous growth the company has seen since its founding in 1986 would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our people. With the integration of the Roxio unit, Sonic now has over 600 employees. We look forward to continuing to help change the way people create, share and interact with all forms of digital media.”

To compile the list, FORTUNE Small Business asked financial research firm Zacks to screen annual reports for public companies with annual revenue of less than $200 million and a stock price of more than $1. Within that group, companies were ranked based on the past three years’ earnings growth, revenue growth, and stock performance.

The number six ranking on the FORTUNE Small Business list is the latest in a series of recent wins for Sonic. As previously announced, its flagship Easy Media Creator™ CD and DVD authoring and burning suite software won the PC Magazine Editor’s Choice in April of this year, and the PC World 2005 World Class Award for the third year in a row. Easy Media Creator is also the best selling CD / DVD burning brand at retail year-to-date for 2005 in both units and dollars and has maintained its leadership position in the disc-burning category for the past 12 months according to the NPD Group (1).
