Sonic Expands Global Presence with New Development Facility in Shanghai, China
Marin County, California (October 23, 2003) - Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ: SNIC) announced today that it has expanded its global operations with the addition of a new development facility in Shanghai, China. The new site, established in response to the growing demand for the company's CD/DVD creation technology worldwide, allows Sonic to tap into the large pool of engineering talent in China, speeding the development and deployment of Sonic's products and technologies to its customers. The new Shanghai facility brings additional reach to Sonic's already expansive operations which include development and sales offices in North America, Europe, Japan and Taiwan.

Based in the Bund Center in the heart of Shanghai, the largest city and the home of the majority of high-technology development in Mainland China, Sonic's new facilities will serve as both a software development center and a same time-zone engineering link to Sonic's growing list of customers in the Pacific Rim.
Sonic's Shanghai operations are being led by Wenbing Zhang, who brings years of experience building successful China-based engineering facilities to his role as Sonic China's General Manager of Operations.
