Sonic Solutions DVD and CD Creation Software Ships with ViewSonic NextVision M2000 Digital Media Center

Marin County, California (March 26, 2003) — Sonic Solutions [NASDAQ: SNIC] announced today that its MyDVD® 4 DVD recording software for Windows XP Media Center Edition and RecordNow™ CD and DVD data mastering application are now shipping with the ViewSonic® NextVision™ M2000 Digital Media Center, ViewSonic’s first entertainment product with digital video recording. Sonic MyDVD is the first application to add DVD recording to the Media Center Edition entertainment experience, allowing users to easily select and burn their personal digital entertainment, such as photo slideshows, music, videos and TV recordings, to CD and DVD and play them back on any standard PC-based or set-top DVD player. The recorded DVDs also support the OpenDVD® format, which gives users the added benefit to re-edit content at any time using MyDVD or other OpenDVD-enabled applications.

“Sonic MyDVD and RecordNow software are great complements to our M2000 Digital Media Center,” said Marc McConnaughey, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technology Group, ViewSonic. “NextVision M2000 users can record their favorite home movies and television shows to DVD, and with OpenDVD® they have the flexibility to reopen and edit their DVDs at any time.”

“We are pleased that Sonic Solutions has been selected by ViewSonic as the DVD burning application for their Windows XP Media Center Edition product,” said Kevin Eagan, General Manager of the Windows eHome Division at Microsoft Corp. “Consumers are turning to the PC for an expanding array of new home entertainment experiences, and Sonic MyDVD delivers a simple, convenient way to create DVDs of personal content to save and watch later with family and friends.”

"We are extremely pleased to be working with ViewSonic to bring DVD burning capabilities to NextVision M2000 users who want to save their recorded TV shows to DVD," said Dave Habiger, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Desktop Product Group at Sonic. "The ViewSonic bundle with Sonic MyDVD and RecordNow takes advantage of the latest advances in CD and DVD technology, and gives home users a powerful, yet easy to use solution for creating Hollywood-quality DVDs of their favorite home movies and recorded TV programs, for backing up their data to CD or DVD-ROM, and for creating music and MP3 CDs.”

The ViewSonic NextVision M2000 Digital Media Center combines computer, audio and video capabilities into one platform, transforming any display – LCD, plasma, projector, etc. – into a multimedia home theater system. The ViewSonic NextVision M2000 Digital Media Center is now available through select retail outlets, mail order and PC reseller channels in North America.
