Plextor Chooses Roxio Digital Media Software For Its First Recordable DVD Drive
Multifunction DVD/CD Drive Features Fast 4X DVD+R Writing and
Comprehensive New Package of Premium Roxio Digital Media Software
Fremont, California - (January 27, 2003) - Plextor® Corp.,
a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance CD-related
equipment and software, today entered the DVD burner market with
its first-ever PX-504A DVD+R/RW drive. The internal DVD writer delivers
blazing-fast 4X DVD+R Writing and 2.4X DVD+RW Rewriting, making
it one of the fastest DVD+R/RW drives on the market today. The drive
also features a premium digital media software package from Roxio
(Nasdaq:ROXI), including Easy CD Creator ® 5.3 DVD Edition and
PhotoSuite ® 5 SE.
The PX-504A DVD+R/RW drive is the industry's first DVD writer designed
to meet Plextor's exacting standards for high-quality recording
of DVD and CD discs. End-users can create, edit, and share customized
DVDs and CDs using video, photos, audio, and data. The PX-504A gives
users the ability to back up and archive up to 4.7GB on a single-sided
Recordable DVD disc, and to create photo albums for viewing with
DVD players. Lossless-linking technology enables users to perform
basic editing tasks directly on the DVD disc, so there is no need
to reload DVD content back to a PC to make minor changes, and no
need to re-burn an entire DVD after making small edits.
"The new PX-504A drive combines the dependability and performance
of our PlexWriter CD burners with all the excitement of using a
PC to create your own DVD movies, from opening titles to closing
credits," said Howard Wing, vice president of sales and marketing
for Plextor. "Roxio's software package offers a complete solution
and gives the user all the software needed to manage audio, photos,
video and data. It also contains a comprehensive customer tutorial
to instruct first time users on the ease with which DVDs can now
be created. Data back-up and archiving can take less than 15 minutes
for 4.7 GBytes."
"We're pleased to be joining our valued partner Plextor as
it enters the DVD burning market for the first time," said
Brad Duea, vice president of worldwide OEM sales for Roxio. "By
combining Easy CD Creator 5.3 DVD Edition and PhotoSuite 5 SE with
its new DVD+R/RW drive, Plextor is giving its customers a diverse
and powerful package of hardware and software to create and manage
their digital media."
