Marin County, California (January 14, 2003) — Sonic Solutions [NASDAQ:

bundled with Hitachi's [NYSE: HIT]
new DVD-RAM cameras worldwide. Included with Hitachi's DVD-RAM DZ-MV350
Series and DZ-MV380 Series
cameras, Sonic MyDVD provides Hitachi's customers with a complete solution
for turning their home videos, music
and digital photos into Hollywood-style DVDs with motion menu backgrounds,
animated buttons and high-quality
slideshows. The completed DVD projects can then be played back on any of the
millions of set-top and PC-based

"After having evaluated various DVD recording applications available

About Sonic MyDVD
Sonic MyDVD is the leading PC application for consumer DVD creation. With its
ability to record analog and digital
video (DV) in real-time into MPEG-2 for DVD, MyDVD is the fastest and easiest
way to share treasured video
memories with friends and family on DVD discs, from wedding videos to children's
birthday parties and other
special events.
Sonic MyDVD makes it easy to burn high-quality DVDs with motion-video menus,
animated buttons and True DVD
Slideshows™ with transitions and soundtracks. Sonic MyDVD also features
optimized Direct-to-DVD™ recording
which allows users, in just a few clicks, to record their content directly to
DVD from a video source connected to
the computer's video input. Sonic MyDVD is also OpenDVD®-compliant,
enabling previously burned DVDs to be
opened, re-edited, updated with new video and photo content and re-burned to
DVD and CD recordable/re-writable
media. This enables an entirely new generation of DVD and CD applications, such
as video diaries, up-to-theminute,
customized sales presentations, compilations of family events, and more.
About the Hitachi DVDCAM DZ-MV350 Series and DZ-MV380 Series
The Hitachi DVDCAM DZ-MV350 and DVDCAM DZ-MV380 series cameras allow users
to shoot their video
content and easily record it onto a DVD-RAM/R disc. Recording automatically
starts from the end of the previous
recording when the [REC] button is pressed, and because data is recorded
onto the DVD disc, overwriting errors
are avoided. Users can also preview their movies instantly and, if they wish,
easily find and play back the
beginning of the recorded content without having to rewind tape, and then
continue to record. The DVDCAM DZMV350
/ DZ-MV380 series camera offers exceptional portability and can be carried
around easily during sports
events, celebrations, and other family occasions.
As opposed to traditional video cameras, where video recordings are saved
on tape and still pictures are saved in
memory, with the DVDCAM DZ-MV350 / DZ-MV380 series camera, both video and
still pictures can be recorded
onto a single disc. Up to 60 minutes of video can be saved in FINE mode
or 1998 still images on one disc.
In addition, the XTRA (VBR) mode for high image quality automatically judges
the complexity of pictures for the
best-quality recording. When the pictures are complex or the objects are
moving quickly, more data and settings
are allocated to the recording process. When the pictures are simple, less
data is used.
Once users have completed their video, they can export the content from the
USB 2.0 port to any PC and edit their
pictures and create Hollywood-style DVDs with motion menus, animated buttons,
and True DVD Slideshows using
Sonic MyDVD. The completed DVD projects can then be played back on an installed
base of millions of set-top
and PC-based DVD players around the world.
