Sonic Debuts DVD Producer™ Version 3.5
Latest DVD Authoring System Gives Professionals New Features and Advanced
Functionality
Marin County, California (September 12, 2002) - Sonic Solutions [NASDAQ:
SNIC]
announced today that DVD Producer Version 3.5, the latest version of its leading
professional DVD authoring system, will be featured this week at the International
Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. With its extended pallet of new
authoring and design features, DVD Producer 3.5 streamlines the process of creating
advanced DVD titles and provides all-in-one convenience for producers of professional
DVDs.
DVD Producer features real-time MPEG compression of video and Dolby Digital
audio, powerful OpenDVD®-compliant authoring, and Sonic’s exclusive
JumpAnywhere™ automatic DVD navigation programming. In addition, DVD Producer’s
Hollywood-proven DVD formatting engine creates the most compatible DVD discs
and outputs to the widest range of DVD-recordable devices. DVD Producer is available
in both a software-only version, or a version tightly integrated with Sonic’s
acclaimed SD-series hardware video encoding solutions.
"When we wanted to begin communicating the Olympic experience through DVD,
Sonic's world-class technology was the logical choice for us," said Andy Goyne,
Post Production Editor for U.S. Olympic Entertainment Properties in Colorado
Springs. "DVD Producer met the challenge of communicating the Olympic celebration
with its impressive power and ease of use. Now with the extended set of new
and powerful design tools included with DVD Producer Version 3.5, communicating
the pageantry and passion of the Olympics with DVD is easier and more efficient
than ever."
DVD Producer Version 3.5 incorporates important new capabilities, including
powerful menu design technology to create DVD menus that would typically require
the use of separate graphics and video editing applications. The new design
engine enables the automatic creation of animated-motion buttons with drag-and-drop
simplicity, and incorporates a familiar text tool for creating stylish button
labels or menu headings with drop shadow effects. Version 3.5 also includes
custom Jacket Picture creation, enhanced file transcoding functions, impressive
speed enhancements, a unique manual-button routing function for tailoring complex
DVD menus, and extended support for the widest range of DVD-recordable devices.
"Sonic DVD Producer is a very powerful way for creative professionals to join
the rapidly expanding DVD production community," said Matt Palmer, Senior Product
Manager for Sonic's Professional Products Group. "With a vast array of new features
and capabilities, Sonic DVD Producer Version 3.5 is the most productive and
cost-effective solution to make exciting DVD titles for communicating with customers
and colleagues."
DVD Producer is the latest Sonic authoring application to create OpenDVD-compliant
discs. OpenDVD is new technology that allows finished DVD-Video discs to be
edited, to add or delete video and audio content. Menus and navigation can be
changed or expanded, and the finished project written to DVD-Recordable media.
Sonic plans to release DVD Producer Version 3.5 in October 2002.
