Sonic Launches "DVD at Work" Seminar Series
Forum to Focus on Revolutionary Trends in DVD Production for
Corporate Video and Multimedia Professionals
Marin County, California (May 21, 2002) Sonic
Solutions [NASDAQ: SNIC],
announced today the launch of an eight-city seminar series
entitled DVD at Work to be offered May through July of this
year. The free seminar, co-sponsored by Cinram, Mitsui Advanced
Media, and Videography magazine, is designed to empower corporate
in-house video and multimedia professionals to expand their
services through revolutionary breakthroughs in high-quality
DVD production capability.
The seminar series will discuss and review revolutionary
technology that removes the technology barrier associated
with DVD production. The series will also cover real-world
approaches to preparing content, handling assets, and creating
elaborate interactive DVD titles, as well as provide attendees
with important information on the latest solutions available
to reach their customers with DVD. To register or to learn
more about the seminars, attendees can visit the Sonic website
at www.sonic.com/seminars.
Designed to assist video post facility owners, corporate
communications groups, video production managers, multimedia
publishers, and DVD title authors, this series will also introduce
a wide range of topics such as OpenDVD and JumpAnywhere.
OpenDVD technology allows DVDs that have already been created
to be re-opened and revised without reference to any original
source materials. Sonic's revolutionary JumpAnywhere
simplified point-and-click interactivity and navigation programming
interface removes all user-scripting from the authoring process.
Special attention will be taken to explain workflow concepts
including DVD editing and revision concepts available through
OpenDVD-compliant authoring, and how DVD producers can create
extremely advanced DVD titles very quickly using multiple
languages and subtitles, AVI files, and MPEG from their NLE
suite. Other topics covered at the event include approaches
to tap the entertainment power of DVD, methods of creating
DVD-based products for their clients, keys to understanding
today's market and customer demographics, project planning
strategies, and rethinking facility design for DVD production.
"DVD is now a key business tool for diverse applications
like multimedia publishing, product promotion, event videography,
and training," said Rolf Hartley, General Manager, Professional
Products Group at Sonic. "The DVD at Work seminar series offers
a close look at new DVD technologies that provide unprecedented
access and affordability to the DVD revolution for every media
video production professional. This series is a must-see event."
Step-by-step demonstrations of the DVD production process
will be shown featuring the Sonic ReelDVD Workstation including
the SD-Series SD-500 encoder, and Sonic's new DVD Producer
system designed to simplify the production of highly advanced
DVD titles.
The first of the DVD At Work seminars will be held in Boston,
with additional seminars scheduled in New York, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Portland, through
July 2002. To register or to learn more about the free seminars,
attendees may visit the Sonic website at www.sonic.com/seminars.
For additional information, customers may also email the seminar
coordinator at dvdseminar@sonic.com.
