PIMC Expands DVD Production with Sonic

New Sonic DVD Production Systems and SD-2000 Encoder Form Centerpiece for High-end DVD Services

Las Vegas, Nevada (April 8, 2002) - Sonic Solutions announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB) that PIMC, the largest Belgium-based professional DVD preparation and testing facility has expanded their DVD production capabilities with new systems and technology from Sonic Solutions, through TransTec bv, Sonic's Benelux-based distributor. In addition to growing DVD production capabilities at its Diepenbeek facilities, PIMC is capitalizing on its strong position as a leading provider of feature film DVD production by expanding its services with the addition of multiple DVD production systems from Sonic.

The new installation, based around Sonic's powerful DVD Creator® and DVD Fusion systems, including Sonic's renowned SD-2000 Advanced MPEG Encoder, will be utilized for high-end commercial production and feature film DVD encoding and authoring and will be used to step up production from PIMC's existing systems.

"We are exceptionally pleased with the SD-2000 encoder and Sonic's authoring power," said Michel Wellens, Digital Video Division Manager at PIMC. "Our existing systems risk becoming unsupportable and Sonic provides us with the experience and power we need to continue our leadership position in the DVD production business. We are enthusiastically growing our DVD business with Sonic technology."

"We are delighted that PIMC has selected Sonic DVD technology to replace and expand their DVD production capabilities," said Rolf Hartley, General Manager, Professional Products Group at Sonic. "Sonic's professional DVD products not only deliver the highest-quality video, but allow users to take advantage of all of the intricacies of the DVD specification and produce the most compatible DVDs."
