Broadcasting Chooses Sonic for Major Expansion of Broadcast Production Facilities
SonicStudio HD Centerpiece of State-of-the-Art Editing Suites
Amsterdam, The Netherlands (May 14, 2001) - Sonic Solutions announced
today at the European Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention that German
National Broadcasters (ARD) Bayerischer Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk
have each chosen Sonic for a major expansion of their audio production capabilities.
Bayerischer Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk upgraded and installed fourteen
SonicStudio HD workstations for recording and editing classical music at
their facilities in Bavaria and Northern Germany. Planning, conception,
installation and training are being provided by Sonic value added reseller
MediArte.
"SonicStudio HD has more than proven itself," said Martin Woehr,
Head of the Studio Production Department at Bayerischer Rundfunk. "Sonic
is unique in its ability to provide the efficiency and reliability we need
for our high-end broadcast work. We have evaluated the new Sonic technology
extensively and have determined that it is the only solution able to meet
our demanding requirements."
The backbone of the Bayerischer Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk new
installation is based on the latest feature-rich version of SonicStudio
HD, Version 1.6. The SonicStudio HD systems will be used as mobile recording
units, as well as play a key role in the broadcaster's editing suites.
"Bayerischer Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk are recognized as
key influences in defining the standards for leading-edge broadcast production
worldwide," said Rolf Hartley, Vice President of European Operations
for Sonic. "That these high-end broadcasters have selected to work
with Sonic technology in expanding their facilities for the future is truly
an honor, and we are extremely pleased to collaborate with them on this
innovative project."
