Sonic DVDit!™ Wins Best Product of the Year Award

Sonic DVD Authoring Application Selected Best of Category by Editors of Videomaker Magazine

Marin County, California (February 12, 2001) - Sonic Solutions announced today that its Sonic DVDit! DVD publishing application has received Videomaker Magazine’s 2000 Product of the Year Award in the Best CD/DVD Authoring Software category. The product is featured in the special awards section of the February issue of Videomaker magazine, the industry’s leading publication for videographers and video enthusiasts. Best Products Award criteria included user empowerment, ease of operation, affordability, quality, innovation, dependability and performance. Winning products are those that score the highest within their categories, relative to the competition.

Featuring an intuitive user interface, lightning-quick operation and a high-powered DVD formatting engine, Sonic DVDit! makes publishing video content on DVD a simple three-step process. First, video is captured (using an off-the-shelf video encoder or DV video input) and edited (using an application such as Adobe Premiere). Next, video clips, audio, backgrounds and buttons are dragged-and-dropped into DVDit!. Finally, with a single mouse click, the video is converted into MPEG-2, audio is converted to DVD-legal PCM audio, and the final DVD content is recorded faster-than-real-time to DVD-R/RW or CD-R/RW media.

Videomaker’s Best Products of the Year Award coincides with the recent introduction of Sonic DVDit! Version 2.3. Featuring unlimited movies and menus, integrated MPEG-2 video transcoding, cDVD™ output and support for DVD-RAM as well as the new Pioneer 103 DVD-R/RW, DVDit! 2.3 gives desktop video professionals everything they need to create stunning interactive DVD content.

“With features and functionality targeted to the needs of videographers, Sonic continues to maintain its clear leadership position in DVD production solutions,” said James Manning, Product Manager at Sonic Solutions. “Videomaker’s recognition with the Product of the Year Award echoes the views of our users – that Sonic DVDit! brings unprecedented affordability, ease-of-use and creativity to DVD production.”

“Videographers look to Videomaker’s Best Products of the Year Awards when selecting the products and technologies that will make a difference in their video projects,” said Steve Muratore, Editor in Chief at Videomaker Magazine. “Best Products of the Year winners are chosen by the magazine’s editorial staff, contributing editors, and other experts, and they represent the highest achievements in innovation, ease of use, dependability, and performance.”
