CAMpeg RTand MyDVD Provide Complete DV to DVD Solution

Marin County, California (February 21, 2001)
- Sonic Solutions announced today that MedioStream, Inc., a pioneer of Host Signal Processing (HSP) technology for real-time MPEG-2 and DV codecs, has selected Sonic MyDVD to be included with CAMpeg RT, MedioStream’s newly announced complete system for creating MPEG-2 files suitable for streaming on desktop PCs as well as for DVD publishing, video editing, or archiving.
“We’re delighted to partner with MedioStream to provide a powerful software-based solution for video encoding and DVD authoring,” said James Manning, MyDVD Product Manager at Sonic Solutions. “With CAMpeg RT transcoding and MyDVD authoring, consumers can quickly and easily create exciting personal DVD videos with excellent picture quality and engaging interactivity.”

MedioStream’s new solution for video professionals, enthusiasts and consumers includes its new CAMpeg RT real-time DV to MPEG-2 transcoder software, MedioStream IEEE-1394 FireWire adapter and cable, and Sonic MyDVD software. Using MedioStream’s breakthrough MPEG-2 full-motion video encoding algorithm, CAMpeg RT enables users to capture and encode full D1 resolution MPEG-2 video from DV sources in real-time. Once captured, Sonic MyDVD is used to author and publish complete DVD titles on DVD or CD media.

“We are very pleased to be working with Sonic to deliver a complete MPEG-2 encoding and DVD publishing solution,” said Ian Xie, President and CEO of MedioStream, Inc. “By combining Sonic’s leading DVD publishing technology with MedioStream’s innovative CAMpeg RT real-time transcoding engine, our users can produce high-quality DVD-video productions that can be played back on DVD set-top players, desktop PC, and DVD-equipped notebook PCs."
