ADS Technologies Bundles Sonic MyDVD™ with Digital Video Products

Enables PYRO 1394 Users to Edit, Author and Record Their Videos on DVD

Marin County, California (February 13, 2001) – Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ: SNIC) announced today that ADS Technologies, a world leader in Universal Serial Bus (USB) and IEEE-1394 (FireWire) solutions for the personal computer, is bundling MyDVD with its line of PYRO 1394 digital video products. The partnership allows PYRO users to drag-and-drop their edited video sequences, audio clips, graphics, backgrounds, and buttons into MyDVD! and then easily build an interactive DVD title and write it to CD-R/RW.

“We’re delighted that ADS has chosen to include MyDVD with their PYRO 1394 DV products,” said Mark Ely, Vice President of Business Development at Sonic. “We believe Sonic MyDVD is the perfect complement to Pyro1394. Working with Sonic, ADS will be able to bring DVD technology to their rapidly growing base of customers eager to publish their DV videos on DVD.”

“Sonic has revolutionized digital video publishing with MyDVD,” said Mike McCoy, President of ADS Technologies. “Combining the incredible ease-of-use of MyDVD with PYRO 1394 makes it possible for users to turn their home movies and favorite videos into DVD titles that can be played on their set-top DVD player or desktop PC. ADS is extremely pleased to be working with Sonic, the acknowledged leader in DVD authoring, as we bring our leading-edge 1394 products to market.”

DVD-Video is the fastest growing consumer electronics format in history. With over 23 million DVD set-top players and over 40 million DVD-equipped PCs in the market today, DVD is rapidly replacing tape as the video publishing format of choice for both video professionals and video
enthusiasts.

About PYRO 1394 Three-port OHCI-Compliant PCI Host Card
The PYRO 1394 host card was first introduced in June 1999 as PYRO 1394DV, the first affordable digital video editing system for all levels of DV enthusiasts. It hit the market at a time when digital video editing solutions were exclusive to DV professionals at a cost that was inaccessible to consumers. And while the prices of consumer digital video camcorders dropped, the quality and cost of the PYRO 1394DV made it so popular among DV users that the PYRO 1394 host card is now the number one selling consumer 1394/FireWire upgrade card in the world.
ADS Technologies has since introduced a number of popular PYR O digital video products including: PYRO ProDV, PYRO Basic and PYRO 1394DV For Notebooks, and its latest PYRO PlatinumDV featuring Adobe“ Premiere“.
