Enables AIST Users to Video Capture, Edit, Animate and Publish Movies on DVD

Marin County, California (August 2, 2001) –
Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ: SNIC) announced today that AIST ® , a leading developer and distributor of software solutions for digital imaging and video production, is bundling Sonic MyDVD with its complete line of MovieX™ video editing products, including MovieDV, MovieDVsuite™, and all MoviePack™ products. With MyDVD, AIST provides its users with end-to-end video capture and editing as well as the ability to publish their films, videos, presentations, training, or any other multimedia content on the popular DVD format.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with Sonic, the DVD industry leader and clearly the best-featured DVD authoring solution,” said Heinrich Noichl, CEO, at AIST. “Sonic MyDVD is the perfect addition to our MovieDV product line – it makes it easy to publish videos on DVD in the most compelling manner. Sonic MyDVD is the enabling application for the DVD publishing revolution.”

Sonic MyDVD 2.3 provides a simple, yet powerful interface for publishing MovieDV video projects on DVD. MyDVD allows users to create projects that incorporate menus, graphics, buttons, video and audio, preview titles with its built-in DVD player, and record the DVD title to DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD-RAM for playback on set-top players or DVD-equipped PCs. Projects can even be recorded to low cost CD-R or CD-RW and played on DVD-equipped PCs.

"We’re very proud that AIST has chosen to team up with Sonic and include MyDVD in the MovieDV family of products, delivering a complete digital video publishing solution to their users," said Rolf Hartley, Vice-President of European Operations of Sonic Solutions. “The combination of MyDVD and MovieX™ products in a single, integrated solution delivers the ease-of-use and attractive price point that makes DVD publishing accessible to the broadest market.”

The DVD-Video format is the fastest growing consumer electronics format in history. With over 15 million DVD set-top players and over 100 million DVD-equipped PCs in the market today, DVD is rapidly replacing tape as the video publishing format of choice for video professionals and video enthusiasts.
