SONIC MYDVD IS FIRST TO BRING DVD
PUBLISHING TO THE HOME
DAZZLE MULTIMEDIA NOW SHIPPING MYDVD WITH DIGITAL VIDEO CREATOR,
A COMPLETE DVD PUBLISHING SOLUTION FOR CONSUMERS
Phoenix, Arizona (October 4, 2000) - Sonic Solutions,
the leader in DVD authoring software, announced today at the
DVD Forum Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, that it has again
redefined the DVD publishing landscape with the introduction
of MyDVD, the first DVD authoring application designed specifically
for the home user. With a suggested retail price of only $99,
MyDVD enables consumers and video enthusiasts to capture "your
life on DVD" and allows them to add compelling interactivity,
graphics and menus to their birthday parties, sports events,
vacations, anniversaries and other personal video content.
Dazzle Multimedia, Inc., a leading provider of desktop and
notebook digital video editing systems for businesses and
consumers, is the first to ship MyDVD in a bundle with the
firm's award-winning Digital Video Creator (DVC) system. The
DVC / MyDVD for Dazzle combination is the first complete solution
that allows consumers to record, edit, encode and then author
their own DVD projects.
"Home movies have all too often been just hour after
hour of boring video footage," said Prem Talreja, VP
of Marketing for Dazzle. "For the first time, with Dazzle
Digital Video Creator and Sonic MyDVD, consumers can now add
the sizzle of DVD to their personal stories. We chose Sonic
to help us deliver this powerful solution, because they are
the market leader in DVD authoring software and, with their
award-winning line of DVD applications, have shown that they
uniquely understand the real range of needs, from home desktop
to the professional studio."
"We're very pleased to partner with Dazzle to provide
the first complete DVD publishing tool for consumers,"
said Mary Sauer, Senior Vice-President of Business Development
at Sonic. "With Dazzle's Digital Video Creator and MyDVD,
now anyone with a camcorder and a PC can capture life's memorable
moments on disc. With the surging interest in personal publishing,
home video enthusiasts now have what they've been waiting
for to distribute low-cost, high-quality, interactive content."
MyDVD for Dazzle offers a streamlined and elegant workflow
- consumers encode their edited video with the Digital Video
Creator software, and the finished clips are automatically
loaded into a MyDVD project without further file conversions
or transfers. Users can then author and preview their DVD
title before recording the finished project to hard disk or
recordable DVD and CD devices.
Projects created with MyDVD for Dazzle can be written to low-cost
CD recorders, allowing consumers to easily share their videos
on a low-cost, universal medium. MyDVD can also embed a software
player on each disc, so that a CD-R with DVD content ç a cDVDÙ
ç can be played on the several hundred million PCs equipped
with high-speed CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives. MyDVD will also
support a wide range of DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD+RW
recordable devices when they appear on the market in early
2001.
MyDVD is powered by the same high-performance formatting engine
in Sonic's DVD Creator, DVD Fusion for Macintosh and DVDit!
products that have been used to author hundreds of thousands
of Hollywood movie, corporate, and consumer DVD titles. With
an easy-to-use drag-and-drop user interface, MyDVD makes it
simple for consumers to author titles without grappling with
the complex intricacies of the DVD-video specification. Available
in ten languages and with support for Windows 98, Windows
98SE, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium, and Windows NT, MyDVD
can be used on almost any PC platform, and with the widest
range of PC-based video editing systems, by consumer video
enthusiasts around the world.
MyDVD is currently available for shipment in OEM bundles and
has a U.S. suggested retail price of $99.
