Adaptec's Jam Now Offers Faster CD Mastering

MILPITAS, Calif., July 19, 2000 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), new release of Jam software for Macintosh now offers support for USB and FireWire CD recorders and also includes new MP3 burning capabilities. Jam 2.6's new features make it fast and simple for musicians and audio enthusiasts to master high-quality, professional audio CDs.

"Adaptec's Jam 2.6 addresses the growing market of garage bands and semi-professional musicians that want a low-cost, high-quality solution for creating commercial quality audio CDs," said Tom Shea, general manager of Adaptec's Software Products Group. "The new features in Jam 2.6 offer fast and simple CD mastering."

In addition to the added support for drives, Jam 2.6 now offers MP3 decoding technology that allows users to burn MP3 files to standard audio CD. The CDs can then be played in any home, car or portable stereo CD player. Jam 2.6 also has native support for FireWire CD recorders, which increases CD burning speeds and can now take advantage of 12x CD recorders.
