Matrox Bundles Sonic's DVDit! LE With
New RT2000
Low-cost realtime DV/MPEG-2 editing and DVD publishing for PCs
Marin County, CA -- August 13, 1999 -- Sonic Solutions
announced today that Matrox Video Products Group will bundle
Sonic's DVDit! LE with the new Matrox RT2000, a real-time
nonlinear editing and DVD production solution for corporate
video artists, event videographers, and multimedia producers.
Based on Sonic's award-winning DVD Creator technology, DVDit!
LE is the first affordable DVD authoring tool designed to
bring the power of DVD publishing to non-linear video editors.
The combination of Sonic's DVDit! LE and the Matrox RT2000
provides producers and editors with the ability to edit analog
or DV video, encode the project to MPEG-2, and author a basic
DVD title, all at $1,295 US. Matrox demonstrated the RT2000
and DVDit! at this week's Siggraph show in Los Angeles and
next week's Wedding and Event Videographer's (WEVA) show in
Las Vegas. Sonic will also be demonstrating DVDit! next week
at WEVA and at the DVD Pro show in San Francisco.
"With over thirty million DVD-equipped PCs and five
million DVD-set top players in the North American market alone,
DVD playback is becoming ubiquitous, and the interest in encoding,
editing and authoring DVD titles is exploding," said
Alain Legault, Matrox Vice President of Product Development.
"Sonic is the clear leader in DVD authoring and DVDit!
is an important component of our new product line-up. Together
with the Matrox RT2000, we believe that we have a solution
which represents a breakthrough in price and performance."
The Matrox RT2000 includes realtime native-DV and MPEG-2
editing with broadcast-quality 3D digital video effects and
near-realtime MPEG-2 video encoding. It ships with Adobe Premiere
RT nonlinear editing, Ulead Cool 3D titling, Sonic Foundry
ACID Music audio editing, as well as DVD authoring and formatting
via Sonic Solutions' DVDit! Matrox RT2000 will be available
for Windows 98 in October.
"Matrox is a leader in graphics and video editing solutions
and we're very excited to work with them to bring DVD production
to a broader group of producers and editors," said Mark
Ely, Director of Product Marketing at Sonic Solutions. "Together,
the Matrox RT2000 and DVDit! are a great solution for high-quality,
low-cost DVD production."
In addition to the RT2000/DVDit!combination, Matrox announced
earlier this year that it would also be bundling DVDit! LE
with its new DigiSuite DTV realtime editing platform for broadcast
and post-production. DigiSuite DTV includes a software suite
for complete digital media creation - Adobe Premiere RT, Inscriber
CG, Boris Effects 3D DVE and Sonic DVDit! LE - and is priced
at $5,995 US. DigiSuite DTV for Windows NT, along with DVDit!
LE, will begin shipping this month.
